Posted on 04/06/2023 02:02:00 So I’ve been playing guitar (and Metallica songs on guitar) for the better part of 30 years and the tail of the main riff in ”Blackened” always tripped me up and I never “mastered” it so I’ve been working on it lately, and I’m getting close I feel. The thing that helped make it “click” was the tail doesn’t end on an open E it ends on an F which is why the timing always messed me up, so I just practiced the tail and stopped on the F for a while and then I threw it in with the riff and it made WAY more sense…Guitar is an ESP Explorer Amp is a Mesa Boogie JP2C Cab and Speakers are a Mesa Boogie oversized straight 4x12 with Vintage 30’s

When I lived at home I would play it in the basement and I’d turn around and he was always sitting on the steps watching and listening to me play it. When he was dying I sat beside him and played it for him, 2 minutes after I finished it he was gone. Agent Orange sucks.Gear info is as follows…Guitar: Mid 90’s ESP EXP model (I dyed the fretboard and covered the dot inlays and added the man to wolf sticker inlays) Strings: Ernie Ball Papa Het signature strings (They’re thicker than I’m used to so the solo got a little fucked up forgive me LOL!) Amps: Boss Katana MK2 100w head with custom clean and dirty patches. And a Roland JC-120 combo amp. (I run this with the Katana starting at the spot where Hetfield starts playing when Metallica play this song live)

For my Metallica tribute, I specifically wanted to pay tribute to Lars and his skills as a song arranger. You’ll see I’m wearing a shirt in the drum track video that pays tribute to him as well. Took my acoustic guitar, after I bought the 72 seasons CD a girl came out with this Merch and free picks that they were giving out. She showed her merch and once she realized I didn't get any picks she let me choose 1 of the 7 free picks they gave in a packet. Because of that I asked her what her favorite Metallica song was and then melted her face. Here I am trying it out with one of the new Metallica songs called Shadows Follow. Muaha 😈🤘🏼
